This lot comes from Mesfin Bekele and farmers growing Wush Wush in Bedessa, within Ethiopia’s Gedeo Zone. Wush Wush is a rare Ethiopian variety known for its intense aromatics, expressive fruit character, and complexity. Grown at 2120 MASL, many of the trees are over 50 years old, producing smaller yields but exceptionally complex coffee.
The cherries are hand-picked at full ripeness before undergoing a 120-hour dry fermentation in sealed sandbags. The whole cherries remain intact throughout fermentation, keeping the fruit in contact with the coffee seed before being spread onto raised drying beds. The result is a natural process coffee with concentrated fruit character, pronounced sweetness, and plenty of complexity.
